Nourishing the Heart Through Affordable Art
Gabrielle Tocaya
As a child, I watched my grandmother (who, along with my grandfather, raised me) write poetry, create + execute plays, host art shows, and counsel people. Years later, I found myself working in my university's art gallery while studying psychology. My love for art and people has allowed me to grow and evolve through the ever-changing moods and trends of the art industry for over a decade, while also maintaining compassion for the humans behind it.
I have worked for some notorious art institutions and smaller galleries, volunteered with grassroots organizations, coordinated successful shows, presented live tours on popular exhibits, wrote curatorial pieces, provided commentary, and assisted in the sale of hundreds of artworks.
What I have learned is that whether you are creating art, selling art, collecting art, or experiencing art, art will change your life.
Art is humans doing their best to make sense of their own existence. It is religion, science, philosophy, and relationship without the roles and rules. Both the creator and viewer are the artist, as well as the art. Connected by the desire to solidify a reality through posing questions and creating and destroying the answers. I don't care how deep into religion, spirituality, or science you are, none of us know with complete certainty why we are here, why we experience the things we do, and why we then leave, breaking many hearts in our absence.
Art gives us the colorful possibility of a deeper meaning to hold onto in the sea of gray called existence.
And I want to help you collect colorful possibilities at an affordable rate that will still nourish your life, home, and business without depleting your pockets.
Let's work together.
